Three years later in 1986, a door opened for my family to go to Kenya. My wife and I quit our teaching jobs and went to Kenya for three months, all the while seeking direction from the Lord. It was after a time in prayer that God gave me an open vision. I saw a great revival coming to Kenya and subsequently going to  surrounding nations.  The Lord later gave clear direction that we were to return to the U.S.A. and that we were to learn how to pray, and wait until He made all the right connections. In 1988, we were led to go to Kansas City to be a part of a prophetic prayer movement, and that is where we currently live today. The connections were fully made when Peter Murunga, a Kenyan Pastor, met me in Kansas City. I then began to travel and work with he and his wife, Hannah, in Western Kenya.

Ten years had gone by but in 1996, I left my job at Sprint, moved to Kenya and our family lived with the Murungas for six months; Anna was four and Jacob was two at the time.  Subsequent to that time, I continued making short trips, until 2007 when the Lord made it clear to the elders of my home church, Olathe Christian Fellowship, that I was to work full-time in Kenya. My son Jacob, who was then 12 years of age traveled with me during a  three and a half year period of time. We went back and forth spending two or three months in East Africa and then two months at home in Olathe, Kansas.
